Cable and Wireless Jamaica is the king

Yup its official. Cable and wireless pwns digicel.. With the roll out of their new plan today. Everybody who's anybody with a cellphone wants this plan.
Cable and Wireless Jamaica (C&WJ) yesterday announced a 45 per cent reduction in calling rates for its customers with the introduction of a new cellular plan that will eliminate cross-network charges, effective today.

The new plan, dubbed the 'Anyone plan', will reduce cellphone rates to $10 per minute during peak hours and $8 per minute during off-peak hours from a C&WJ cellphone to any other cellular network or landline telephone. Previously, it cost $17.50 per minute to call from a C&WJ cellphone to the Digicel or Miphone network.

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children was such a bad ass movie, I can't help but wanna see Final Fantasy stuff every where. I wish I could get posters for my room. I used most of yesterday making wallpapers with my favorite characters, Cloud and Tifa here's one that I did. I haven't found any good pics of Vincent as yet. Anyway here's one that I did.

I'm not too excited about this one though.. Its mainly anime but the auther did them in a crappy slow and boring way.. i'm not putting any on my phone but hey who know's maybe you'll like it.. he even managed to screw up the great Akatsuki no kuruma by fiction junction yuuka. Gmail and Internet explorer

I don't get it.. I thought gmail was down with I.E. I remember it working with Internet explorer now every time I try accessing my gmail account from internet explorer I'm prompted to download some unknown format document from google..

Yah that's what I'm seeing, I'm not sure as to why, I've got a late version of internet explorer and I'm pretty sure I used to use internet explorer with gmail before. Am I alone in this or are there others?

Weird things you've heard

I've heard some weird things come up in conversations at times. Generally I let it slide but sometimes the person pushes it and you just gotta call em out on it. You know let em have it and brutally too.

Scenario:

I buy lunch for me and 2 other friends and we're having lunch at the friends house. Some how Fantastic 4 the movie comes up, I started saying they should watch it, one signals that he already has, the other says no. To the one that hasnt seen it I'm like
"yo should dog its great, I'ld put it up there with my fav movies of the summer. Then again probably its because Jessica alba's in there and everybody knows I love that girl,there was a scene with her in her bra and panties, 2 or 3 actually."

The other guy goes
"what about Johnny storm"

The other friend and my self continue on about Jessica alba being a supremely hot girl. The other comes in again

"what about Johnny storm"

So we both pause talking eating and just stare at him. And started with hysterical laughter, I almost choked.. I'm like WTF is this dude saying. I'm talking about one of the hottest piece of ass on the planet and this dude keeps interrupting about Johnny storm. Doesn't he have a clue how odd that seems. We teased him about that for like weeks. It was just weird..

Next Scenario:

I'm at school one day and this dude is yapping about dreamcast having cool games and some weird ones and I'm said
"yah, but I really haven't played any that seemed weird or stupid even."

He goes

"well there is this one that's weird but I like it, Seamen. I love seamen"
WE ALL GET UP AND STARE THINKING WTF IS THIS KID SAYING. He's still there yapping about how seamen is a great blah blah blah apparently not realizing how it sounds. Eventually he saw everybody's facial reaction and thought about it. And put 2 and 2 together and started explaining its a game about some aquatic creatures that had human faces and could talk blah blah blah

Video game midi ring tones

I just came across a nice repository for video game midis. Pretty sweet they got a huge collection going there. Listening to the Zelda: Ocarina of time midi's really brought back memories man. I was a proud Nintendo 64 owner showcasing Zelda: Ocarina of time as the worlds best game.. I think it things like these why I was so late in recognizing the greatness of final fantasy, I though RPG where all about Zelda styled playing.. In any event you want the midi's go get em [video ringtones]. So many Video game ringtones you can find enough stones to throw at em Enjoy.

Browser wars is on: Firefox is becoming annoying

Firefox the pedigree of all them browser out there right... WRONG. The once champion hound of the pack is now nothing but an old flea bitten, tick infested mutt. Its really getting on my nerves, and what's annoying me more is that this blog that I'm typing right at this exact moment is being done in firefox.
Last night after seeing firefox run up a whopping 90,000k+ worth of my physical memory i decided I needed to address the matter, "the real matter than needs addressing is my physical memory which is only 256mb :(". My move was to install msntoolbar, which offers a tabbed browsing experience in internet explorer.. My response to msn's futile and weak attempt to compete with the fox is. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!! YOU CANT BE SERIOUS, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A JOKE. Internet explorer is more annoying to use in this manner as you have to click a button before you click a link for it to open in a new tab. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT come on bill you've got better developers than that I'm sure.
The new opera is nothing short of annoying. The download manager doesn't work well. It doesn't work well with gmail which is immediately a problem with me it wont be used. The only feature that I love from opera is that full screen browsing. That is really what full screen browsing is supposed to be like.

Wi-Fi: Wirless Adhoc Network at home ;)

This morning I set up a wireless Adhoc network using my notebook (hp nx9005) and my stepfathers notebook (sony viao) both notebooks are using pcmcia wireless cards. The Hp utilzes an airvast 100 wireless card and the viao uses a Benq gprs/wlan card.
This projet which should have been completed in 5 minutes took like 15 to 20. The problems were as followed:

• Benq gprs/wireless card apparently cannot be used for wlan as long as the gprs vitual modem is installed.
• After sharing the gateway connection from the hp to the viao was always labeled ad disabled
• The viao constantly dropped the gateway connection
• I couldn't figure out what to use as the wep keys.. thats righ digits or alpabetic characters, I wasn't sure.. I googled and found a ms documents which really didn't help much.. Go figure.

Solution.

• Set up the wireless network let windows choose the key for your wireless network
• Disabled security from wep [ there are no wireless uses in my community much less people with laptops lol ]
• Set the wireless network to be open.
  
• Run home and small office network wizard.

There is still one problem though. it keeps dropping the connection every once in a while. not sure why though.. will post solution to that as soon as I figure it out.

Linkin Park To Nsync.

A friend of mine we call linkin he's the biggest linkin park fan I've ever seen in my life, wears the clothes and all. and then one day this dude just starts dancing to this nsync song that was playing at a friends house, doing the exact moves from the video it seemd.. shame. Lol I'm kidding kid, do your thing. the ladies look like a that them like. Be different from the crowd yes. This lil movie is soo funny though. lol.

P.S For the die hard mozilla users and opera users wou'ld advise you download the quicktime player from apple so you'll be able to watch without using internet explorer

Something's always wrong.

Murpheys laws will always prevail no matter what. After watching Final Fantasy VII Advent Children I thought "hmm its time for me to finish up those ff games that are still lingering about unfinished". So about 30 mins ago I took out my playstation 1 2nd edition. dusted it off, unrapped the adapter and rca video jacks. pulled out the final fantasy VII cd case and popped in disk one. and then rummaged through the plastic bag to find nothing else. WHERE ARE MY CONTROLLERS. My piriana game pad I lent out cuase i wasn't using it. but i had the oem ps1 second edition controller as well as the old playstation 1 controller, now I have none. Now i'm just here staring at the console like WTF am i supposed to do... Its just one of those things. somethings always gotta be missing. If its not a credit card its a playstation controller.

Macromedia Flash Stick fights

I remember my first time seeing one of these, i was in 4'th form in my days of a young webdeveloper when i had my site at homestead hosting. Xiao's fight was the shitznit I'ld watch em over and over and over. I thought the hype in Macromedia flash made stick fight animations where over but how wrong was I... Very. Check this out stickpage they got the good stuff right here, the animation has stepped up by huge notches, they now have faces, eyes mouth etc, and make great facial expressions and they talk. I'll let you be the judge of it all though. Come back and post a comment on what you thought of em. My favorite was killing spree. that kid is crazy

Want A Gmail Image Signature psd

If you want it just gmail me and i'll send you the psd file, mine can be seen on the right, below the I power blogger image or above the hit counter i put in. Its really cool, i made it black to mach the template i'm working with currently. Word of advice if you do request it from me. change layer 45 to whatever color you blog is in do not make it transparent and save as a *.gif image. It will come out all jagged. and will require alot of work for you to remove the needed pixels to get it squared again.. its easier to just set the colour. However if you have the free time on your hands your free do as you wish.

Remember hit me up at gmail if you want the psd file, Use that mailto button that i placed over on the right above the hit counter. or mail it your self. Just ensure you use a subject like "google image signature request" or something similar so it will be easy for me to filter through my mail to find it.

Sightings like this in my house/yard Worry me. That spider was a bit too large for comfort you know what I'm saying and i saw him right after watching eight legged little freaks so you can guess the outcome of this sighting.

Anime's That I have yet to see

Since watching an anime called Onegai Sensie/Teacher, I've been hooked on that particular genre or type of anime. Its really a chick flick type of thing but It grips you and before you know, your attached to the characters and you cant stop watching.. I know its scary. Genshiken has a similar effect as well.
There are quite a few anime from this genre that I have not seen, Namely,

• Ichigo 100%
• Love Hina
• Sazuka
• Full Metal Panic
• Chobits
• Onegai Twins [ I believe its a continuation of onegai teacher: I must see this, I swear it on my way of the otaku ]
• I, Me, My Strawberry eggs
  

Those are all I Can think of at the moment. The most ironic thing about me watching this type of anime or even wanting to watch more is, I laughed at a few friends of mine for watching these, namely blindz and malloc x. I just wanna say. Gomen nasai.

No Credit Card = No Internet Life

A credit card is like an appendage when it comes to online business or companies. I'm trying to build an empire without an axe to cut the trees, that I'll need for lumber. Sony Ericsson new line up

Yet another exclusive of sony's in the pipeline mobile device. If this leaked shot is actually real. then I suppose sony had a successor to the w800 in the works before the actual release of the w800. They called it sony ericsson w900i. There alwasy remains the fact that this screenshot could be some annoying adobe photoshop fanatic trying to be a smart alec.. However from my digging I've found that Sony Ericsson has actually sent very threatening letters to some of the popular sites that hosted this picture. and the other that i posted some times ago the hermione or the p950i, sucessor to the p910i (see here).



Next in the line up is the SE W850.. I have n clue why they'ld be releasing all at the same time.. It has been done before though so I should't be surprised



Sony Ericsson is leaking like the hoover dam would if it broke. I'm not surprised though every thing always find a way to leak out.

update: You guys do see that lil windows button right. I was wondering if my eye was playing tricks on me but it seems its a joint venture with microsoft, So its pushing a version of MS palm os I guess.

Flat Panel Monitor Frenzy

In recent weeks maybe a month or two maximum there has been somewhat of a frenzy among the technological populos. The frenzy's apparent cause is the acquisition of the FLAT PANEL MONITOR. Now this is really nowhere near new technology, I guess its just the cost which held every one back from owning their own. This movement can mainly be seen on techjamaica in the tech classified forum, here the main ones being sold are dell and viewsonics. Not sure of the reason my guess is the cost..
I think jamaica's like what.. almost a year late in this wave of "I must have a flat panel monitor", at least the people are trying to get with the times technologically.

Naruto Anime Toonami Dubbed version

I watched my first dub of a great anime, Naruto on cartoon netowork last night. DISAPPOINTING. I'm probably being biased and will admittedly say it. I am a huge japanese culture freak, the language in it self adds something extra to anime. all english dubs suck. The only voices from the anime which didn't seem to annoy me were Sarutobi Sandaime and Hatake Kakashe. I know kakashi's voice is the same voice actor as spike form cow boy bebop, Hokage Sarutobi i'm not so sure about.
In Any event I wont e watching any more dubs of naruto.

Photoshop Video tutorials on the way

If there is one thing I"ve learnt for sure from my attempt at learning flash. Video tutorials work. They may seem repetitive annoying and even downright disrespectful to the point where the lectuere seems like he things your retarded and he must say a point like every 2 lessons and so on. but It works. I cant wait to get the video tutes from the same people for adobe photo shop. Really good stuff. Wish I had something like this when i was learning Php on my own.

Things in the making

I'm working on a little project which is basically almost all the way through the pipeline. Majority of the things needed for start up I already had in posession. Just one part remains to be acquired. After the acquisition the launch should follow suit in about a week maximum.

Bob the Butler

My lil brother was watching tv like about 10 minutes ago and he's a disney watcher. So I'm sure I heard tom green voice so i intervene to change the channel cuase I dont want him watching that junk. To my surprise its a disney flick. called Bob the butler.. I'm extremely surpised to see tom green in any movie on Disney

Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.

This Movie Rocks So hard that my head hurts after watching it. I've seen it twice since this morning and I've gotta say Its been ages since any thing has moved me so much... This is no doubt at the pinnacle of gaming/movie/Anime events in history.. Well done square enix, very well played.
Two years after the events which took place in the video game the movie Advent children begins. Cloud and Tifa have both began living normal lives running a delivery service, and apparently caring for some orphans as well. The Final Fantasy Movie displayed the maturity level which took place with the characters both on a physical and mental level and also showed mental blocks and hindrances, mainly in the case of cloud.
The fight sequences in this Final Fantasy movie were extremely awesome they gave more than enough action that left no one complaining. Practically the second have of the movie was an entire fight. All that you'ld expect in a Final Fantasy sight was presented. Summoning, hand to hand combat it was all there. Of all the fights I feel I Enjoyed Tifa and loz's fight the most. Tifa pwned him. Well up until he got that phone call, the ring tone will give most final fantasy 7 fans a kick.
From kadaj's gang kadaj is undoubtedly the best. He proves this in his final fight with cloud, before his reunion with mother which turned out in the return of the great one Sephiroth. I was a little disappointed in Sephiroth's performance. However This cloud was very different form that of Final Fantasy VII the video game. He was very calm, very collected and It also seems Confident for most of the fight. Clouds final move was pretty awesome, that multiple sword in one was pretty frikking awesome.
The team work in the movie on both parts was really great and really showed that final fantasy feeling. Kadaj's gang did it when fighting cloud at the old captial city. Clouds' gang did it when fighting bahemoth in the city. The team work for the final move that defeated bahemoth was great. Vincent would have had to have the last say in the stack of characters, yah. He's the coolest.
I would give Final Fantasy VII Advent Children a 4 thumbs up but i only have 2 hands ergo.. They get both. My favorite performance from the characters where Kadaj's acting very believable, Vincent, Tifa and Cloud, really great fighting.


Very shortly I'm gonna dust of my playstation 1 [ remake ] and get a copy of Final Fantasy VII, I must finish that game. It is an otaku's mandate.

Damn flash banner and blogger

So I made a lil flash banner with the tutorials I've been doing over the past days. Nothing too complex just a simple text motion tween, you know those cheesy text effects that these companies seem to cant get enough of. Any way I uploaded it to photobucket and embedded the object in the blogger template and set the "value" and the "data" attributes of the object tag.
The anomaly is I see the flash banner when i load my blog others complain that the page doesn't even load. Thinking about it I realized i'm using the latest release of macromedia flash "version 8". could it be that they need to update the shockwave/flash player thats integrated with their browsers?? If thats not the case I really dont know.
As you can see I have reverted to my crappy attempt of making a dropshadow effect similar to that used in the movie "the talented mr ripley". This is only temporary hopefully I can fix the flash banner problem before the week is out

Skype or Google Talk

Now after using both of these apps and scrutinizing both of their functionality. I've gotta say skype wins the voip client battle. Both google talk and skype are excellent clients, one of kind so to speak, as there are no other apps out there that offer this quality of service where viop is concerned. The differentiation between the two is apparent in.

Interface

Skype's blows google talks' right out of the water. More colorful and eye catching. However google talk has a cleaner, smother, sleeker look than skype.. I guess there's a loss and again to usage of lots of colors.. Screen shots of both clients below






Functionality

Both the clients essentially do the same thing right voip calling, conferencing, full duplex data transfer text based chat "IM". Where voip is concerned yes. Where chatting and IM is concerned WRONG.. OH SO VERY WRONG. The chatting module of skype is far more thought out than that of google talks. There are no smiles in google talk, their sad attempt at smilies resulted in a blue highlight of the symbols for a smile. Resulting in :-) or ;). Skype on the other hand delivers the real thing, glossy looking smilies which we all have become dependent on when expressing our emotions.. [ bless those emoticons with all your heart ].

Multi-platformed

By this I mean, the core client applications porting to the various operating systems. In the case of skype it was designed for all the major operating systems, Linux which I currently use, windows, Mac and last but not least pocket PC. Google talk on the other hand rather than making their base client application accessible to all the operating system. They made the client on a familiar protocol.. one we know as Jabber this enabled google to simply keep the google talk application native to windows and allow other operating system users to access the service via multiprotocolled IM clients, E.G. Gaim, Ichat, Trillian Pro etc. There wouldn't be too much of a problem with googles decision in the event that all the features avaible in the google talk client [ native to windows ] would still be avaliable to the other operating system users "Namely Me". The case however is the voip module of the application is not accessible to non windows users. so its more like google chat than google talk to us Linux or Mac users.

I declare skype the winner of the voip telephony wars and would whole heartedly recomend it over google talk.

You can/could download skype or google talk and test em both for yourselves but i'ld save the time and probably get skype instead

My Amazing Sony Ericsson P800

Took some screen shot of the Sony Ericsson p800 since morning. Looking on it now I've really tricked out my phone.
